Billow Morning Tea Launch

Finally after months of planning the Billow Launch happened today. It was only a small launch for family and friends but the feedback was great. We sold 32 pairs in only 2 hours and all styles were loved. It is such a validating feeling knowing that all of your hard work is noticed and also that people are liking what you are doing.

If you are in need of some leather flats then check out the Billow Facebook page. we will be holding a small sale to showcase a few of the popular styles. Just comment "SOLD" and your size and we will get in contact with you.  Our website is still under construction and should be live within the week so you will then be able to all the styles.

I will post up some photos of the launch later.

Sequin State of Mind.

To be honest and, I am ashamed to admit this, but I never really like sequins until very recently. Cue shock. I know its terrible, but since I have been acquainted with them my love affair has been fast and deep. With summer coming up, I am really looking forward to adding to my sequin collection both for the party nights out on the town and also those smart but casual dinner dates.  For summer's night out on the town, I really can't go past a tight short sequin skirt and loose top. Accessorise with ultra high pumps and chunky accessories and let the confidence flow.

For the sequin inspiration, head to Polyvore. Below are a few of my favourites:

Oh No!

My very first Oh No for the Billow blog goes to none other than the fashion risk taker, SJP. SJP attended the New York City Ballet Gala over the weekend in a Valentino Haute Couture gown and cape.  Although I love both of these garments separately, together they just don't match. Its a clash of flower power and I have no idea which one wins.

The dress would look phenomenal without the hinderance of the cape. The cape would look amazing with a pair of straight tight fitted suit pants cropped at the ankle, crisp white top and pointed pumps. Accessorise both outfits with some cocktail rings, bangle and clutch.

This outfit is just too much, too much.

The Emmy's

This years Emmy's came up without me even knowing, usually I'm waiting for the fashion but this year I didn't even realise. After frantically trawling through the red carpet style, I found that I'm kind of glad that I wasn't in anticipation for it, this year was a bit of a let down. Mostly the red carpet was filled with block colour dresses with not many patterns and really, a bit boring.

Usually I am a huge fan of Julie Bowen, she has such a great sense of style on the red carpet and while she did impress this year, I found the fabric of her dress a little year 6 graduationy.  Minus the taffeta look fabric, the gown colour, accessories and makeup combine to make a great outfit.

Giuliana Rancic on the other hand really impressed, although her gown colour was a boring black, the structure and cut was perfect for her body.  Giuliana has always been a celebrity I have zoomed past when looking in the fashion styles sometimes I really like her outfits and other's I think huh? Her strappy heels are a genuine love and I am desperate to get myself a pair! Not to mention her amazing engagement ring!!

I have never been a fan of Heidi Klum, there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance and I think Heidi toes that line often. She and Giselle Bundchen have that same air of confidence and they just don't warm to me. Maybe that's why this dress sparked my eye - I'm am a little old fashioned in the way that you don't show off too much skin, especially at prestige functions like the Emmy's.  For me, Heidi is showing way too much skin. I am a big fan of the rule, boobs or legs, not both.

Here are a couple of gowns that caught my eye.

Not a big fan of the raw edges but the style and colour are a love.

Great dress for her age, very sophisticated and pretty.

Safe but pretty dress. This dress reminds me of the dress Michelle Williams wore in 2006 to the Oscars. Very dainty, it would have been great to see a pop of colour on the neck.

What did you think of the 2012 Emmy's?

Celeb Inspiration // Gwyneth and Cameron

Gwyneth and Cameron were photographed out recently wearing great pastel outfits. Gwyneth wore a demure figure hugging white dress paired with black pumps. Cam stepped out in a blush jumpsuit with gold accessories.

I am not normally a fan of jumpsuits, they remind me too much of the Austin Powers era but Cam has pulled this look off perfectly.

As my one favourite things in life (apart from my supportive family and man) is pastel and with Spring in full swing, here is some pastel inspiration.

Celeb Style Inspiration

I've just seen 1 of my all time loves paired with a new season trend and they are a match made in fashion heaven!!

Demi does Lace and chartreuse:

The necklace collar finishes the dress perfectly, add a pair of black heel botties and done for a night on the town.  Remember to keep your hair off the neckline in order to create maximum effect.

Billow

After a long journey I can finally say that the Billow website is due to go live in only days!

As I said previously in a post, the reason I created Billow was to provide women with affordable, stylish and quality flat shoes. It has been well over a year in the making with a few hiccups of course, but it has all been worth it!

Billow flats are made from genuine leather upper and lining which makes the feel underfoot very comfortable, as well as lasting a lot longer than synthetic flats.  Synthetic flats are dense in the current fashion market with some great styles however I really started to steer well clear of synthetic flats around 2 years ago.  While I bought the odd pair occasionally, almost always I would need to throw them out after only weeks of wear. Not to mention I was worried to take my heel out of the flat for fear my foot odour would drift up and offend the person sitting next to me. So to eliminate the terror of the smell, I started searching for affordable leather flats.  I found some really great styles that I fell in love with, like your Tony Burch and Rachel Zoe's but I just was not willing to fork out over $200 for a pair of flats.  Don't get me wrong, I am more than happy to spend up to thousands on Louboutin's and hundred's on local man Tony Bianco but for flats, my limit is $100.
After searching for the middle market it became clear there wasn't one and luckily this led me to create Billow.

Our first range will feature the essentials, black suede, leopard, a pop of colour and the corporate flat.  We are also hoping to have a small range of sandals for the summer months.
Next year will be an even bigger year for Billow with the view to double our range and sharpen our prices.

I hope you love our first range.

Feel free to post some styles that you are needing for your 2013 winter wardrobe.

Here is a sneak peek our the Billow website.

Workstation Inspiration

It has been a few days since I have blogged but I recently came across this amazing workstation inspiration from Lauren Conrad and I just had to share!

Designing my first Billow collection I wanted so bad for an office space at home but unfortunately space didn't permit. I am absolutely in love with renovating and decorating and mixing new modern pieces with vintage DIY projects. My style ranges from vintage to modern to contemporary to country.  Mixing all these together I mostly always come out with pastel and lace, my two biggest loves of all!
Recently, I moved in with my boyfriend and I have been redecorating here and there. Our study is full of sports memorabilia at the moment and there isn't room for all my girlie touches all through the house.  I'm learning to compromise, but I secretly cannot wait until we get a bigger home where I can have my inspiration space and he can hang sports memorabilia wherever he pleases - For now I will dream. :)
Whether you have a space filled home or a small nest, here are a couple of workstation inspiration's:

Turquoise Love

A classic colour combo is crisp white and turquoise.  As summer is heating up here in Sydney here are a couple of Celeb turquoise inspiration picks.

I know Heidi isn't in crisp white but HAD to include this one!

Here is my turquoise inspiration from summer - Wouldn't you die for a real accessory bar!?

Celeb Inspiration // Liberty Ross

A couple of months ago Snow White and the Huntsman had its premiere and an unknown Liberty Ross stunned in a white lace fitted dress. Since then I took an interest in her style and although there are not many photo's of her, she has an enviable figure and great sense of style.

A couple of months later she became a little more famous for a less than lovely reason of her husband cheating with K-Stew. I have never been a huge fan of Kristen's less than polished style so I was shocked to find that he would cheat on such a striking women.
Recently she was photographed out rocking a pair of denim cut offs, heeled boots and rocker Tee, instant love of her outfit!

Here are a couple more of Liberty's other outfits.

Here are a few more gorgeous women donning leather short shorts to beat the summer heat in the USA.
