Over the weekend I attended a lovely wedding of some friends in Sydney CBD. The bride looked stunning and the groomsmen scrubbed up very well!
As the wedding season is in full swing, I thought what better way than to help with some wedding outfit inspiration and tips. I have been to quite a few weddings and I always remember 2 things when picking an outfit; Sophistication and subtly.
Weddings are a respectable event so picking something I would wear on a night out with the girls doesn't really go hand and hand with that. Also you never want to out shine the bride, this is her day and everyone there is supporting the union of her and the groom. Picking neutral colours are a great way to not take the shine off her big day. Also remember to never wear white and if you know the colour of the bridesmaid dresses, steer clear of that colour too. That will avoid that awkward, "I wish I was a bridesmaid" look. These are just my opinions and experiences so of course, wear what you feel comfortable.
As always, I had options when picking my wedding outfit. It was either the maxi gown from the amazing Wayne Cooper or black leather accented cocktail dress or my last outfit choice and my pick: A recently purchased Tokito navy blue dress.
The cut and style of this dress suited a wedding to a tee! Subtle and sophisticated. The collar allowed me to either pin my hair in a high bun or down with soft curls, I chose the latter. After a small makeup debacle, I slipped on the dress and added some ultra high black suede pumps and accessorised with a black faux leather bag and belt. My amazing boyfriend was apart of the groomsmen and here's a photo of us together from yesterday, him carrying my bag :).
I must admit, my choice was swayed when my dress reminded me of the ever stylish Lauren Conrad's choice when attending Heidi's wedding.
Myer has this amazing dress on sale at the moment for a mere $50! Check it out online or in store and let me know whether you are a fan.
